Our Collective Small Giving Could Literally Change a Life!
Two older brothers, one in a country he can't speak or understand its language, rejected by his own children at an age he should not be worrying about how to survive, and another isolating self from society, after a successful professional life.
Both need our support.
Alhamed ellallah their housing situation has been stabilized, thanks to the generous donations of our community supporting our ILIA dorm.
Although designed for youth, the dorm opens its doors for elders 55+ who need a safe haven.
Not a rare incident, it happens on a regular basis across America. After years of sacrifices, nurturing, and caring for their children while young, they get thrown out of the home at a time the child is a well-to-do grown-up, mesmerized by the glamours of modern life.
According to Congressional Research Services and several nonprofits, it is estimated that approximately 4.9 million seniors live in poverty in America. Muslims are not immune to this situation. As a matter of fact, most homeless Muslim individuals are abused women or widows, seniors, and unaccompanied youth.
Islamic Leadership Institute of America is raising $2400 to help two elders, a 60-year old and a 70-year old Muslim residing at our young adult dorm to develop stronger independence, community engagement and acquire skills, learn technology and become independent.

[And give] to the needy who, being wholly wrapped up in God's cause, are unable to go about the earth [in search of livelihood]. He who is unaware [of their condition] might think that they are wealthy because they abstain from asking; but you are unable to recognize them by their special mark: they do not ask people or intimidate them. And whatever good you may spend [on them], verily, God knows it all. (2:273)
